I keep hearing people saying that NT is bar none the best
choice for Lightwave PC. I think something is being overlooked
in these suggestions, this being that NT requires HUGE amounts
of RAM before it even runs any apps. I personnally have 32 megs
of RAM and am very concerned about the complexity of scenes I
can set up before I start paging to disk. This is a very hard
decision for me to make. While early reports are that NT will
run LW about twice as fast as Windows 3.1x running Win32, I
also know that paging to disk takes 4-5x more time than render-
ing from RAM. Please consider your memory situation before
rushing out to buy NT. I have heard NT itself uses about twelve
megs. Suddenly Windows 3.11 looks pretty good. Could somebody
post actual stats about Windows NT memory usage? Render on all!
